What is the Royal Edinburgh Ticket?
It's a digital pass by Edinburgh Bus Tours that includes 4 of Edinburgh's most popular attractions.
It includes the city's Royal attractions (hence the name, Royal Edinburgh): Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace and the Royal Yacht Britannia.
It also includes 48 hours of unlimited travel on the Edinburgh Bus Tours Hop-on, Hop-off bus tours so you can travel the city and get to the attractions.
How do I receive and activate the pass?
Buy the Royal Edinburgh Ticket online and you will receive an email voucher.
Once in Edinburgh, you'll need to visit the centrally located Stop 1 on the Edinburgh Bus Tours routes. Until 30 November 2026, roadworks close Waterloo Place, so Stop 1 is Stop GG on George Street, opposite the Assembly Rooms, and Royal Edinburgh Ticket holders can ride any tour bus to get there. From 1 December, Stop 1 is back at 19 Waterloo Place (EH1 3BG), a few minutes' walk from Princes St and Calton Hill. Check the opening hours on their website.

You will also be given a time slot of your choice to visit Edinburgh Castle.
How long is the pass valid for?
From the time you activate it in person in Edinburgh, the Royal Edinburgh Ticket is valid for 48 consecutive hours.
Remember to check the opening times of the attractions (which may change seasonally) to help you get organized and make the most of your pass.
Do I need to book the attractions in advance?
No, you will just need to book your visit to Edinburgh Castle.
When you visit the Edinburgh Bus Tours first stop, you will be issued a ticket with the day and time of your choice to visit the Castle.
Even if that particular time slot is sold out online, there will always be available tickets for Royal Edinburgh Ticket holders.
Can I visit the attractions more than once?
You can visit each attraction only once, except for the Sightseeing bus: hop on and off as many times as you like during the 48 consecutive hours!
Where can I buy the Royal Edinburgh Ticket?
You can get it online, on the Edinburgh Bus Tours website, from the Tiqets platform or from Civitatis.
You will need to know the date of your trip and the number of people who need a pass.
